Over at The Armchair Genealogist, Lynn Palermo is hosting the 3rd Annual Family History Writing Challenge. She's inviting all family historians who want to write their family history stories to sign up for the challenge and write, write, write—all February long. Participants are asked to set a word count goal and commit to that goal from February 1st through the 28th.
Everyone who signs up will receive daily newsletters that include motivational messages, writing lessons and instructional guest posts. Lynn says, "By committing to a daily word count, my hope is for all participants to make substantial headway in their family history writing goals and to create long lasting writing habits that will carry them forward throughout 2013."
Special guest authors include certified genealogist, author and writing instructor Sharon DeBartolo Carmack from www.NonfictionalHelp.com and author, speaker genealogist and writing instructor Lisa Alzo from The Accidental Genealogist. Guest posts also include writer, educator and historian Biff Barnes, editor at Stories to Tell Books, and Mariann S. Regan, author of the family memoir Into the Briar Patch—and me, Tami Koenig, Your Story Coach.
Many of us have the intention to write our family history stories but get caught up in research instead. Sometimes all we need is a solid writing goal and a bit of cheerleading. Lynn's offering both! Head on over to the Family History Writing Challenge website to sign up. If you sign up early, you'll get additional newsletters in January to help you get organized and ready to write.
